About The Artist
Gaylor was born in Southern California and upon graduation from Arcadia High School he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard having served on the 13th District Search and Rescue Team of which he is a proud Veteran. His journey then led to a graduate of Rio Hondo College 11th Fire Academy and served as a full-time first-responder Firefighter/EMT with City of Monrovia and City of San Marino. Injured in the line of duty Gaylor retired becoming a restauranteur owning and operating several restaurants and all that time Gaylor carried on a quite successful career as a real estate broker.
Gaylor has a very unique big bold style using thick textured oils of deep color and strong splashes of light. Gaylor often references the original impressionists like Camille Pissarro and Paul Cezanne, and then will reference his personal style as “Pizzanne!”
The word Gaylor means dandy, spirited, and that’s an accurate description of him and his work. He’s a naturalist who adores silence and the rain. His “Make It Rain” series launched his commercial art career and these large canvas artworks provide a calm colorful elegant zen that compliments any space, decor or architectural design.
Gaylor admires the old wisdom, like: ‘the language of God is silent, everything else is a translation’ – Gautama, or, ‘in every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks’ – John Muir. But his favorite stuff comes from who he calls the master of mythology, ‘when you are in accord with nature, nature will yield its bounty’ and ‘when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change’ – Joseph Campbell.
